The students of the Jr/Sr High School kicked off Bullying Prevention Month (October 3rd) by participating in the "Wear Blue" to Stomp Out Bullying. Each 1st hour class was counted, by percentage, to qualify for a donuts and milk breakfast provided by Mr. Becker. Mrs. Horton and Ms. Hefner's class had 100% participation to win the breakfast. However, we had over 88% of the students participate that day, so we offered up some snacks for all the students that participated. Great job Galva Jr/Sr High !!
I am happy to report that we now have Chromebooks in most of our classrooms for student use. Teachers are integrating them into daily lessons and the students have safe, reliable technology at their fingertips!
We had a great Homecoming Week this year that resulted in a Homecoming football victory and an excellent dance at Galva Jr/Sr High. I wanted to share some sights and sounds from the week.
I want to send out a special "Thank You" to Mrs. Raley and her Spanish l class for inviting me in to hear the Spanish alphabet sang to a military marching song. I think the students were being a little shy, but I have to say that the military cadence had me motivated all day! Thanks.... Again this year, Dustin James from Moments with Class led our Freshman Class of 2020 in team building exercises to show the importance of working together and making a commitment to graduate. After the exercises, all freshman signed the "We Believe in U" banner to pledge their promise to graduate.
Our Annual Open House was on Wednesday, August 24th. We had a great group of parents and students that visited with teachers and staff and toured the building. Thank you all very much for your support and I hope to see everyone at future events at the school. The MidCounty Cougars and the Galva Wildcats began their seasons with a scrimmage and introductions of the Fall participants representing MidCounty and Galva this year. Best of luck to all of our student athletes this season. Please come out and support our athletics at an event near you! Despite the heat, student and teachers were back to work in the classroom. Mr. Stinson's Economics class is working with Chromebooks in the Virtual Classroom and Ms. Kuenneth's 7th Grade Science class is working on projects in the lab.
We had another successful Locker Night to start the new year. Several students and their parents decorated and organized lockers before the start of the new year. Good luck to everyone and have a wonderful school year!
