The Junior Senior High Band and Choir held their Annual Spring concert at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Galva on March 19th. It was an incredible show and the sound was amazing. A special "Thank You" to Ms. Jones and Mr. Angelo for holding such a great event for the community.
I am excited to serve as the Principal of Galva Junior/Senior High School. It is my honor and privilege to lead this extraordinary learning community during a time of incredible demand and continuous change.I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and give you some insight into my philosophies and expectations as we move forward. I am originally from Kewanee and following a 24-year military career, I entered the education field at Pekin Community High School (PCHS) in Pekin, Illinois.PCHS is a large, suburban school with approximately 2,200 students in grades 9-12.I was the Senior Army Instructor/Program Director of the Junior ROTC program for seven years. During my last year, I served as a Dean of Students for approximately 700 students.
As an educational leader, I believe that our children are a community’s greatest asset. As educators, we have an obligation to do everything in our power to ensure we make a positive difference in the lives of our children. We need to make them feel protected and safe and welcome when they enter the doors of our school each and every day.
All students possess a love for learning.Teachers will instill in our students a desire to become a life-long learner by empowering and challenging our students in and out of the classroom.Students should aspire to grow academically, morally, and socially through the mentoring and guidance we provide as trusted educators and adults. We will be models of life-long learners for our students. As a principal and leader, I have high expectations for our students. All students will strive to meet the standards of good citizenship, academic rigor, and display dignity and respect for all. These expectations create a respectful, responsible, and safe school environment. Positive, meaningful relationships will be the key to our success.Faculty and staff will model respect, patience, and tolerance with both students and adults.Effective communications with families is another key component of success.I look forward to meeting and working with all of you in the future.
