On Monday, October 24th, Illinois State Superintendent Dr. Tony Smith visited the Galva area. He first met with Galva students via virtual classroom from Wethersfield, then met Mr. Peterson out at the Galva building trades site to see what area students are building in the community. He was highly impressed by the quality of the Galva students and the knowledge of Mr. Peterson. Thank you all for leaving a positive impression on Dr. Smith.
The students of the Jr/Sr High School kicked off Bullying Prevention Month (October 3rd) by participating in the "Wear Blue" to Stomp Out Bullying. Each 1st hour class was counted, by percentage, to qualify for a donuts and milk breakfast provided by Mr. Becker. Mrs. Horton and Ms. Hefner's class had 100% participation to win the breakfast. However, we had over 88% of the students participate that day, so we offered up some snacks for all the students that participated. Great job Galva Jr/Sr High !!
I am happy to report that we now have Chromebooks in most of our classrooms for student use. Teachers are integrating them into daily lessons and the students have safe, reliable technology at their fingertips!
We had a great Homecoming Week this year that resulted in a Homecoming football victory and an excellent dance at Galva Jr/Sr High. I wanted to share some sights and sounds from the week.
