Galva hosted the Junior High Lincoln Trail Conference Boys Basketball Championships from the 17th to 21st of January in both gyms. Our 7th Grade team entered the tournament as a 4 seed and the 8th Grade team was a 2nd seed. Both teams made it to the LTC Championship game with the 8th Grade Boys finishing 1st and the 7th Grade Boys finishing 2nd. We held a pep rally on the prior to the game and a call-out was sent to the Wildcat Nation to support the boys that night. I am proud to say that the Nation answered the call and we filled the house for the games. THANK YOU WILDCAT NATION for all of your support!
Just prior to leaving for our Holiday break, members of the Henry County Probation Staff as well as police officers from the Galva and Kewanee Police Departments spoke to our students about the dangers of drinking and driving. Our assembly concluded with some "willing volunteers" attempting to perform some normal activities with the "drunk googles" on...simulating various levels of intoxication. While entertaining, the exercise really showed students and staff the seriousness and dangers of drinking and driving (and playing basketball). |
